Look, I know it MAY be Jesse McCartney, but we all need to watch 'Keith'.
We need to man up and accept that while he is annoying when he is 17, blonde and singing, we love him playing an angsty, oh-so mysterious chem lab partner who we all need to jump.
I had no idea the boy could act, and well I might add, though I may, just maybe, be in love with his character.
I need a Keith.
Sure, it's not the smartest thing to watch when a) you are already upset and b) you're about to go to sleep listening to The Hazards of Love in full, ending in the tragic demise of William and Margaret, but that's what I just did. Best decision all week.
Sure, the environment they are in is less than desirable, the overdone American high school scene, but I can get past all of the plot faults, superfluous characters and cliched teenage angst and issues, purely because Jesse McCartney has managed to produce such a lovable, quirky character. I don't know, maybe I am just a sucker for weird eccentric guy in the corner.. Honestly, who doesn't want a boy who picks you up at 4am, only to visit multiple houses, ending up in a cafe where you orphan Salvo's bowling balls leaving a note asking someone to find them good homes.
The standard has been set, it will never be met, but I can dream.
One thing that made me love this movie so much, was that i watched it after coming home from seeing Valentines Day, I got told it didn't have a completely soppy plot, I was deceived. Keith, alternatively, ends on a depressing note, something I haven't seen done so well since Van Sant's Gerry.
Conclusion, Jesse McCartney can act (better than most singers who attempt it when their careers fall flat), this movie is brilliant in plot and Keith's character development (though I loved him from his first appearance), I need to stop watching movies and do something productive and I need a Keith.

Gone Away
So much effort on something that means so little.
In the mean time;
"Far away you've gone, and left me here
So cold without you, so lonely dear
May June July I count the time
Every minute I go takes the smell of your clothes
Further away'
Cause you've gone away
Where there isn't a telephone wire
Still I wait by the phone
You don't even write to say goodbye
Goodbye
I have saved every piece of paper
Like grocery lists and note cards
To do lists and race scores
So just in case you change your mind
And come back, I've kept everything safe
While you're gone away
Where there isn't a telephone wire
Still I wait by the phone
You don't even write to say goodbye
Get me out get me off
Get me out get me off
Oh this is a ride going nowhere
But somewhere that I despise
Going nowhere to end up with a tearful
I don't wanna go on with these pieces of paper
That you left behind
This is a ride going nowhere
But somewhere that I despise
Going nowhere to end up with a tearful
I don't wanna go on with these pieces of paper
To keep me company in my old age
While you're gone away
Where there isn't a telephone wire
Still I wait by the phone
Why don't you write to say goodbye
Goodbye"
